SABC Building

When I was clerking at a law firm in Sandton, I had to head to evening class twice a week to attend compulsory lectures for practical legal training. In order to miss the traffic between Sandton and the City, we took back routes through Westcliff, up Owl street, past 44 Stanley and then up to Bunting Campus. And one of the first buildings I saw, and fell in love with, was this tall thin thing. Like that Motorola Razor phone. Turns out its the SABC building.
Linked to this is the Sentech Tower (also known as the Brixton Tower, and previously as the Albert Hertzog Tower) was built in 1962, and is 239m tall (other sources say 234m). The tower is used by the SABC and Post office as a transmission tower, and is situated on a hill in Brixton.
Standard Bank Chambers

Ansteys Tower is now a national monument. This building was once the home of Cecil Williams (actor, playwright, and member of Umkhonto we Sizwe). Nelson Mandela was disguised as Cecil Williams’ driver when he was captured on 5 August 1962
